Nintendo has just pushed out a new update for Animal Crossing New Horizons, and with Halloween just around the corner, you can bet that this update has everything to do with the spooky festival. You will now be able to grow pumpkins, collect candy, craft new items, and even go trick or treating with your villagers… to some extent. Here’s how to trick or treat with villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Trick or Treating with Villagers in Animal Crossing New Horizons
The first thing you need to do is get Candy, because you’ll definitely need candy if you want to trick or treat with your villagers in the game. Once you have the update installed, you’ll be able to start purchasing candy from Nook’s Cranny.
Just one thing to note: you can only buy one piece of candy a day from the shop. However, you can get around this limit by visiting your friends’ islands, which will allow you to buy even more each day for the month of October. It’s also possible to get past the limit by time traveling backwards, but if you want to do things the legitimate way, start island hopping on Oct. 1.
Next, you’ll have to wait till Oct. 31 to be able to start trick or treating with your villagers. In the evening on Halloween, most of your villagers should be gathered around the Resident Services building. You can then gift them candy and they’ll reward you with a few goodies as well, including two DIY Recipes for the season, as well as two new seasonal emotes.
Candy is a required ingredient for most of the seasonal DIY Recipes, but it’s definitely recommended that you set aside a few for Halloween itself so that you can get all the items available in the update.
